Not ready? Start anyways!

... I encourage and urge you (and i honestly hope i'm doing a good job at it) to just stand up and start moving. You're not yet perfect? That's okay, perfection can't be achieved in a day, a beginner is not expected to produce expert level work! You don't have all the knowledge needed to achieve your goal? No problem! You will learn on the job, start small and perfect every small step you take, before you know it, you'll be a pro...

Are you a Person of Value?

A person of value is one who has something worthwhile to offer, a person of value shares something that will be beneficial in one way or the other to those around. Now do not misunderstand this, being a person of value has NOTHING to do with financial wealth.

Got Self Love?

To me, self love is the appreciation of oneself, which improves physical, mental and spiritual growth. Yes, self love can improve your development as a person. Loving yourself a little bit more can affect every aspect of your life. It can affect your approach towards work, it can affect your interaction with others, it can influence your choice for a partner, and these are just a few.

Little Things, BIG IMPACT

Have you ever had a little kind gesture shown towards you and you felt really good throughout that day? A gesture so little that nobody else understands your happiness. The little things are most times given without the giver having any knowledge of what they are giving. It could be a smile/joke shared with someone having a rough day, it could be giving someone a listening ear, it could be that gentle arm squeeze of re-assurance when someone was feeling unsure, it could even be a simple "hello, how are you today?".

Qualities of Truly Confident People

Confidence is not bravado, or swagger, or an overt pretense of bravery. Confidence is not some bold or brash air of self-belief directed at others.Confidence is quiet: It’s a natural expression of ability, expertise, and self-regard."

Facing Your Demons

Every single human walking the face of the earth has their demons, from the little baby who cries when the room goes dark, to the old man with creaky joints struggling to move around and thinking about all his life's worries. We all have demons at one point or the other, but the question is, do we face these demons? Do we fight them?

Life Happens in Stages

The transition from young adulthood to full blown adulthood happens when certain things become irrelevant and other things become more important. Discussions about our life's goals, plans and dreams become more frequent. At this stage, the young adult (most of them, not all) already has a clear idea of where he/she is headed or would like to be headed in life

Your Talent is your Wealth

We were all born with talents, some lucky enough to have a truck load of talents while others managed a little purse of one powerful talent. Like I mentioned earlier, there are various types of talents;creative talents like designing or art, intellectual talents like the gift of organizing, planning or being able to solve problems quickly and then there are also special talents or you can call them gifts, photographic memory is one of such.

Do you have a plan?

There will come a point when you should know or at least have an idea of what you want your next step in life to be. Assume you don't get a job after school, what are your plans to improve on yourself to get yourself ready for the labour market? Or would you rather be an entrepreneur? How are you improving your entrepreneurial skills?

Handling Criticism

I don't think there is anyone that really enjoys being criticized...correct me if i'm wrong though. Even if we don't like it, we have to accept it because it contributes to our growth process. There's definitely nobody that likes the quality of their work being questioned or their decisions challenged, but the thing is, the way you handle criticism is what determines your quality, as a person and in your craft. The willingness to accept and take corrections.

It's Okay not to be Okay

The thing is, we can't always be in tip-top shape all the time, we can't always be perfect and in a perfect state of mind...hey, look at that, I've got a topic..."It's okay not to be okay". So as I was rambling, I guess it's the imperfections, the little bumps on the road that help us in our personal growth journey.

How to Effectively plan

...this follow up post is going to be about effectively planning, i'll try and point you in the best planning direction, but keep in mind that self discipline has a huge part to play when it comes to planning and of course, you have to want the end result bad enough, that should actually be your biggest motivation.

White Collar Job

One of the flaws of fresh unemployed Nigerian graduates is the lust for white kola (collar) jobs or nothing else. Everybody wants to be in an office, without wanting to explore the very wide range of options they have.

The Power behind a "NO"

Saying NO could be really liberating, especially when you know you don't have to do something when you don't want to. It shows people that you have a mind of your own and can stand your ground, hence you won't be seen as a doormat. The fact that you refuse certain people doesn't make you a bad person, please don't let anybody make you feel that way.

Managing your Time

Managing your time means consciously planning out every activity of your day to have a scheduled time, a time it should start and a time it should end...don't worry, it's not as robotic as it sounds, it's just a way for you to get things done efficiently and effectively...

Passion or Paycheck?

It is good to work for the paycheck, don't get me wrong...I mean man gats chop, but on the other hand, do you think pursuing your passion will be more beneficial to you? At least in the midst of all the stress that comes with passion pursuance, you will feel joy and satisfaction right?
