HOW TO measure your BRA size...

Hello Ladies!
In my last post about wearing the RIGHT BRA  i outlined some pointers on how to identify the wrong bra and also the medical effects of wearing the wrong bra (check it here),.... I realized that a lot of women don't know their bra size...so i will explain a few steps for you to follow when measuring your bra size.
The method i will be explaining is called the measuring tape method. Its quick and easy and can be done in the comfort of your bedroom.

#1 Get a Measuring Tape
This is an essential when you want to do a DIY bra fitting, once you have this...you are halfway done! .

#2 Put on your best fitted bra
Pick a bra from one of yours that fits you the best...this is to make sure the breasts are held properly in place so as to get an accurate measurement with the tape. Make sure the bra has an under wire and it isn't a padded bra. If your breasts look like they are sagging in the bra, tighten the straps so that the center breast is halfway between your shoulder and elbow

#3 Measure your band size
The band is the part of the bra that rests directly under your bust
How to Measure:

Wrap the measuring tape directly under your bust, ensure that the tape is straight and parallel to the floor, suck in your breath when taking the measurement because you are trying to get the smallest measurement possible, if the measurement is not an exact number, round off to the nearest whole number and use the chart below to check your band size.
If your measurement is 39 or more, round off to the nearest even number to find your band size; if you notice, the chart follows a sequence (triple of each number for the band size).

#4 Measure your cup size
The cups are the parts of the bra that hold the breast
How to Measure:
Stand straight with your arms at your sides and breath normally, you can ask your friend or sister to help with this measurement. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, make sure the tape measure is not wrapped too tightly and again, the tape should be straight and parallel to the floor.
If your bust measurement isn't an exact number, round it off to the nearest whole number.

#5 Compile both measurements to get your bra size
Now you have two measurements; band measurement and bust measurement. Assuming you've measured 32 inches as your band size and 34 inches as your bust size, subtract your band size from your bust size (i.e. 34-32=2) and you get a difference of 2. Look to the chart below to get the translation...

As seen from the chart above, the difference of 2 falls under the "B" cup size, this means that, according to the tape measuring method, you bra size is a 32B!

So there you have it! An easy way to measure your bra size all by yourself. So measure now and go get the right bra for you! :)
Below is a video on what i have just explained above, it gives you a very clear visual of the measuring tape method. Enjoy!
