September/October Discoveries; Cocktails, Vintage shirts + more

We have a double dose today! September discoveries should have come earlier, but better late than never right? I think I've finally been able to balance all the things going on in my life, so posts should come a little bit regularly now. Let's get right into the double dose of discoveries shall we?

Tunla cocktails
I had always wanted to try out cocktails, mostly because of how yummy they looked in pictures/TV and of course their exotic names piqued my curiosity even more; Mojito, Margarita, Black Russian, Pina Colada, and even the naughty ones; blowjob, s*x on the beach...I wonder who came up with these names sef. Do you have any idea?

Random question; if you were to be a drink, what do you think you would taste like?
If I was a drink, I'm pretty sure I'll taste like rum with chocolate + vanilla flavor and the drink will be called "Rummy Desire" LOL! I have no idea where that came from.

So my office had a TGIF party in September and cocktails were made and served by Tunla Cocktails (holla at her for cocktails for your events. Her cocktails are bad ass!) I had the Black Russian and Blue Malibu and oh dear did they taste amazing!

Have you had cocktails before? What's your favorite?

30 minutes with Joy
This social media thing is a struggle for me sometimes and that's not a good thing because social media is very essential for blogging success. Blogging without promoting the posts is like cooking a big pot of yummy jollof rice and leaving it in your house to waste without sharing with people around you, that's not a good thing...sweet jollof cannot be wasting anyhow.

So I registered for a free session on social media management for brand owners with Joy Eneghalu of iModelAfrica and it was really insightful. It was a one-on-one session that took place via WhatsApp call (yay to technology). It felt good to voice out my concerns and struggles with social media and have someone understand and also proffer solutions and ideas. Kudos to Joy for the initiative, I benefited a whole lot from the session.

Financial discipline
Bruh! I have had to learn how to manage my finances these past couple of months oh. First of all, the recession isn't helping anybody, secondly there are so many things I need to save for, one of which is a MacBook Pro (with retina display), yes! I had to mention it just in case God touches your heart while reading this post and you decide to donate to the ministry, remember that God loves a cheerful giver and that givers never lack.

So what does financial discipline really mean? To me, it means not being an oju kokoro, and conditioning yourself not to spend unnecessarily. The 3 lessons I learnt from being broke (here) really helped mold me sha. Right now my mindset is "if you don't need it, don't buy, even if you have the money...save save save!"

What is your technique to saving? How do you convince yourself not to spend unnecessarily?

Lucy Daves sandals
I'm a sucker for sandals and an even bigger sucker for beautiful sandals, which is why the first day I visited Lucy Daves Instagram account (@Lucy.Daves) I was sold and I knew I had to get a pair.

I got myself a pair of carton brown beauties (worn in the picture below) and I still have plans to get more. Lucy Daves sandals are beautiful, well crafted and very durable. You should definitely get one for yourself. Girl or guy, Lucy Daves has got you covered.

Vintage shirts
Vintage shirts have been all the rave for a while and I've been wanting to get myself a couple. I came across @zee_baby_ tweet advertising some really pretty vintage shirts she was selling, they were really affordable too (2k each) and I forgot my financial discipline for a second and found a way to convince myself that buying the shirts wouldn't hurt my pocket. Just to further convince myself, I told Tee about it and he seemed to agree with me, so I ordered two lovely shirts and I didn't regret my decision at all.

What do you think about vintage clothing? Do you own any?

Alright guys. It's your turn now; what new things have you discovered/tried out in the past couple of months? Oya share with me in the comments section. I'm waiting for you oh!

Truly yours,
*hugs and purple "mwah's"*
