Guest Post || Monochromatic Trend

The monochromatic trend is one that I believe is kind of timeless. So this is one trend I think can be tried regardless of what fashion dictates should be trendy, as long as it is done right. Remember style is a matter of choice anyway.
"For an image/picture, the term "monochrome" is usually taken to mean the same as black and white or, more likely, gray-scale, but may also be used to refer to other combinations containing only tones of a single color."
So the monochromatic look is basically that which involves different shades of a single colour, or basically the same colour.
Now how do you do the monochromatic look?

#1.
Make sure you choose a colour that looks great on you to make a full outfit. It may be easier to start out with an all black or white ensemble, or grey, or the monochromatic black and white look. Check out mine HERE.  And if you want to add a pop of colour to your look, that is if you consider it dull, try a red lipstick or bold coloured accessories for instance.

# 2.
The common misconception about the monochromatic look, is that you have to wear the same shade of a colour all through; For instance; same shade of blue, same shade of red etc. Well, this is one approach.

But then who says you cannot rock different shades of blue or red or white, as an approach to this trend? You definitely can! :)
Remember the denim on denim look HERE? It is one sure example of a monochromatic look too.

#3.
Also, incorporating more fun into your monochromatic outfits would be: by pairing items with different textures. This basically means the materials/fabrics of let's say your skirt and top, should be different. This makes the whole monochrome look more fun.

Monochromes can also be in form of prints and patterns, as long as there's a unison of a shade of colour/different tones of one colour in it.

GUYS CERTAINLY ARE NOT LEFT OUT IN THIS MONOCHROMATIC TREND TOO.

TIPS TO REMEMBER
At the end of the day, wearing monochromatic outfits is not only a simple and clean approach to dressing, but it also elongates your shape—making you appear much slimmer and taller than you actually are.

Also, anyone can pull this trend off, as long as you start with a colour that compliments you, and your outfit is well tailored and shapely.

Remember that this trend looks best when different textures are paired together to give the eye a visual break, and you can also add complimentary accessories for that extra "oomph" to your look.

What are your thoughts on this trend?
