The Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award

This title sort of remind me of the movie "Sisterhood of the travelling pants"...and I think that's kinda the idea behind it, hence the denim pants in the logo. Okay, enough of my rambling. I was nominated for THE SISTERHOOD OF THE WORLD BLOGGER AWARD! Whoop Whoop!

Firstly I want to sincerely thank and appreciate, Ugo of the Beautiful Eagle blog for this nomination. She has been a very supportive blogger sister, always sharing my posts and commenting. You deserve a very large gift. Here's a plate of tasty akara for you *winks* (yes guys, she likes akara, don't ask me how I know, lol). Thank you so much dear, you rock!

THE SISTERHOOD OF THE WORLD BLOGGER AWARD is an award passed from sister blogger to sister blogger, and there are just 5 conditions to be met when you accept the award:
  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site
  2. Put the awards logo on your blog
  3. Answer their ten questions
  4. Make up 10 new questions for your nominees
  5. Nominate 10 bloggers
So, Ugo decided to bend the rules a teeny bit, after all rules were made to be broken right?
She decided to change it from asking 10 questions to asking for a personal experience that can inspire other ladies. In her words, "to help ladies accept every part of their bodies and personalities".

Her request:
"Tell us about a part of you that you struggled with (maybe a habit, nose, shape, leg etc) and how you overcame the fear"

My response:
I don't think there is any particular thing I struggled with, although I had some reservations about my flat nose and "plenty" forehead, but they were not really struggles. I didn't really get teased or anything, just comments here and there that made me self conscious.

I did, however, get teased about the way I walked, and this did some damage to my self confidence, I also got teased about my lack of a fleshy behind, and extra damage was done. All this, coupled with my consciousness of my large forehead and flat nose, made me struggle with my over all self confidence and I always compared myself to other females.

Things started to change when I met a special someone *lips sealed*, and he made me feel like my "problems" were non existent, like I was a goddess that just stepped out of the golden sea or something like that. If I complained about my forehead being too large he would reply with "I love your forehead". Eventually, I started seeing other amazing things about myself, because of the compliments he gave me, and my self confidence started to build. I also started working on loving myself more (like seriously, I got a pen and paper and everything. By the way, read my self love post HERE).

So if you ask me how I overcame this, I would say, I surrounded myself with people who saw the good things in me and I worked on loving myself more. Self love can do wonders for your self confidence, because there is only so much other people can help you achieve.

I'm going to steal borrow Ugo's question. Tell us about a part of you that you struggled with (e.g. a habit, nose, shape, leg) and how you overcame the fear.

My nominations:
1. Fredilia
2. Suzzane
3. Sogie
4. Rume
5. Damilola
6. Zoe
