3RD ANNUAL ANKARA FESTIVAL & AFRICAN FASHION SHOW, LA 2012.
HIGHLIGHTS; DIVERSITY OF AFRICAN ARTISTS & DESIGNERS.
The Ankara Festival was designed to showcase upcoming and established designers who specialize in using traditional African fabrics and prints to create contemporary clothing in a fashion show.
Actress Shondrella Avery (End of Watch, Napolean Dynamite, The Secret Life of Bees, Déjà Vu) hosted this year’s event.
The event was held at Avalon Hollywood, 1735 Vine St., Los Angeles, CA and featured designers such as Ekwueme (Nigeria); Sumahrie Collections (Sierra Leone); Oyato Designs (New York/Nigeria); Tribal Mask (Los Angeles); Glamm Fashions (New York/Nigeria); Oyato Designs; Revere Couture; Nsaa House Of Designs(Ghana), Glamm Fashion, Dai Z Couture(Cameroon), Sumahrie collections(Sierra Leone); and Menogu Designs.
The professional make-up was handled by Napoleon Perdis Beauty Academy (Hollywood), Professional Hair Styling by Tea Carter and Demetria Hampton of Hot Off the Press Salon (West Covina)
The artists who performed were Naira, Big Klef, Bro Phalu Falu and Celestina.
